I sprained my ankle the other day and went to the ER and they did an x-ray they found that i had sprained my ankle and show signs of an old fracture (i twisted my ankle in the past). i see the orthopedists 2morrow but am wondering what i could expect? I have a splint on and had it on for 3 – 4 days so far it won’t come off till I see the Dr. 2morrow. I am wondering what other actions might be taken? I never have been able to walk straight since the first time I hurt it; just been put-ing off the Dr.

If its a major problem for you they may have to rebreak and reset it.
Otherwise nothing major will be done.

I think my sister sprained her ankle at a basketball game. It is really painful. She could walk a little at first. We got her to the car, but she had to lean on us and it hurt her al ot. It’s gotten worse since then and she can’t walk at all now. However it hasn’t bruised or swelled and it has been a few hours. How long does it usually take to bruise or swell and what is the best way to treat it?
Sometimes immediately, sometimes the day after. For me it doesent hurt at first, but the next day the swelling starts and starts hurting. For example, I broke my foot last winter skateboarding, and it hurt almost the second it happened, then just kindof faded. i knew something was wrong but didnt want to accept the truth. Oh well, Overall just give her 1 or 2 anti-imflammitories (motrin(ibuprofen) 200mg tablets) you can get these any drug store. Wrap her ankle and if you have the money take her to the hospital to get it examined by a professional.

I was at Target with my friend Saturday and I was walking in the store and kept tripping over my shoes but never felt. Could that make my ankle sprain?
gosh, u get so many different answers.. i don’t no how u no what to do about a situation most of the time…
to answer u.. yes..
doesn’t matter… if u trip over ur own foot, the foot of a chair or whatever… all u have to do is loose ur balance for a few seconds.. and
that causes u to wobble on ur ankle and if u distribute the wrong amount on the ankle in the wrong position…. that is what causes the sprained ankle.. u do not have to fall down… to have a sprained ankle..
so u decide????
not sure if u had the pretty blue shoes on u were going to wear to the interview or not… but I have had the occasion to do the same thing in thongs… they are sooo flimsy..

My 18 month old has a sprained ankle.
We took him to the hospital and the doctor said that he should feel better in a few days and gave him motrin for the pain. He can’t walk. I feel so bad for him! Has anyone experienced this? How long did it take to recover? I’ve made a follow up appointment for him tomorrow.
I had sprained my ankle not too severly and it healed in about 2 weeks for the full recovery. It still hurts sometimes today and I sprained it about a month ago.. so ice and elevation helps a ton! Hope your son feels better!

Yesterday I sprained my ankle in gymnastics and I suspect it is a grade 2 sprain. I use crutches at school , ice it, and elevate it. I am going to the doctor in a few days, but in the meanwhile what can i do to make it heal faster? And how long will it take to heal?
It would take around a month but you need to stay off it for a while or use crutches still you can walk on it without pain. It you use ur ankle too much it will take longer to heal.
Lastly, when you sleep you need to elevate your foot.
I had a sprained ankle in November. My ankle is still not completely healed where I can work my calves in the gym but I can walk

It’s been four weeks since I sprained my right ankle. I now feel no pain, no swelling and can freely move about my sprained foot. Except a very tiny bit of soreness lingering at the moment. Do you suggest it’s time for me to get back to running?
If so, for those of you who had ankle sprains, in your experiences, how do you cope with your post ankle sprains when it comes to exercising?
I have been following the R.I.C.E method to rehabilitate religiously for the past four weeks.
Its been 3 weeks for me since I sprained my ankle. There is still bruising and is a bit swollen.
The best thing is putting pressure on it. so i would get on a treadmill and walk on it, everyday try increasing the pace. If you feel that it hurts then slow it down.
But its very important to keep pressure on it and keep it moving. When you sprain your ankle, if you dont move it and dont put pressure then scar tissue develops and it becomes much easier to sprain your ankle again.

I am a majorette, and sprained my ankle sometime in august, It was a bad sprain too. I’m talking about my ankle was like a baseball, I went to the doc just in case and stuff. But my ankle still irritates me some days, Is it always going to be like this?
I sprained my ankle 2 years ago and sometimes it still bothers me…it really depends on the person and how badly you sprained it. It’ll get better though, don’t worry! But there is a higher chance of spraining it again, so try to be careful on it.

I sprained my ankle pretty badly (its defintely not broken though) and I really need it to be better by next weekend (big dance competition) so how can I do this. I’ve been RICEing it, but is there anything else I can do? PLEASE HELP, ill try anything
hahaha i had the sameee situation. okay try doing this. try going up on ur toes and coming back down (sort of mid speed) if you cant do that…then try doing like range of motion excersises. example-sit on the edge of a chair and try 2 trace ur foot with the alphabet. orrr use thuroband excercises (you can view all of these excercises online) but keep RICEing it…see how it goes…if its swelling up really bad take 200 mg motrin to reduce pain. also try looking into physical therapy. im a swimmer and i had to go to physical therapy (my ankle was really badly sprained) and thats where i got all of these excercises. so try that…and if not look up excercises online and try 2 do them at least twice a day. also try wearing a brace or like compression cast so the ankle wont roll over again.
