ankle sprains

http://www.footanklealliance.com/Ankle-Strengthening.html
In This Video You will see how one can do various exercises to Strengthen the ankle muscles. If you have had an ankle sprain you need to follow these instructions to gain the stability and the strength back. It is more likely to sprain an ankle that had and injury before. Most people don’t follow up with strengthening exercises after the pain has subsided , therefore the injured ankle stays weak and more prone to injury. This video takes you through a complete routine that will keep the ankle strong. I actually think that even if you have never had an ankle injury it is a good idea to do these exercises on a daily basis to keep your ankle injury free. I definitely recommend it for women wearing high heel, which make you more vulnerable to ankle injuries

What do they do for an ankle sprain and old fracture?

I sprained my ankle the other day and went to the ER and they did an x-ray they found that i had sprained my ankle and show signs of an old fracture (i twisted my ankle in the past). i see the orthopedists 2morrow but am wondering what i could expect? I have a splint on and had it on for 3 – 4 days so far it won’t come off till I see the Dr. 2morrow. I am wondering what other actions might be taken? I never have been able to walk straight since the first time I hurt it; just been put-ing off the Dr.

Thankx for the help!:)

If its a major problem for you they may have to rebreak and reset it.
Otherwise nothing major will be done.

What to expect from chrisman snook ankle surgery?

I am going to have a chrisman snook procedure done to my left ankle, I’m looking for someone to tell me what I can expect from surgery? How long is the surgery? Is it an outpaitient procedure? Post-op recommendations/problems, etc.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated and thanks in advance.

I don’t know what chrisman snook ankle surgery is but I got a surgery done on my left ankle 4 years ago and it was kind of scary in the beginning because it’s surgery…who wouldn’t be scare. So they call me in and tell me to change my clothes to this hospital paper clothing (bras and underwears should be taken off too…wonder why???). Then they had me in the bed on the all-patient waiting room. Later the nurse came in and put an IV in my vein (left arm). So I was there for a while until the doctor’s really to take me in. They wheel my bed to the operation room and then this anesthesia told me that he’s going to give me this shot (with a big needle…I actually saw the needle on the tray) into the joint behind my left foot, and then another on one where the procedure is, and there’s also a gas mask that they are going to put on me. And when they put the gas mask on me, before all the shots, I felt asleep and didn’t feel anything nor any shots that the anesthesia said he’s going to do. When I woke up, I was back in the waiting room with the IV out of my vein. I got loss track of time and it only feels like as I just closed my eyes and when I opened my eyes in a second, the operation’s done…but in reality, it’s more than an hour. The first person was my doctor telling me this and that and I was kind of clueless because I just woke up and he didn’t even bother to tell my relatives who was called in and told that my procedure was done. So I woke up and a while later the nurse told me that I can go home…that I can get up without any supports and walk home. I mean, you kidding me? I just got the surgery done on my left ankle…how am I going to go home without either a wheelchair or a crouch? The nurse said that I don’t need it and I said I need it and I have a cast on. So eventually she got me a crouch for me to walk around and take home. When I leave the hospital, the side effect of the pain reliever takes into effect and I started to throw up right outside the hospital. When I came home, I went to sleep. Don’t feel any pains at all. All there is are pressures. When it’s time to take my cast off, the nurse said that I did great because most patients who came back to take their cast off, they usually have bloods there and most of the time, they have to put the cast back on again, but I have nothing there. It was all clean. Of course mines was clean, because I don’t want to listen to the nurse whose telling me to walk like usual. When one have a surgery done, one should not apply any pressure to the area at all, and when taking a shower, I use a plastic wrapper to protect the area. I always use the crouch after the surgery until 1 days before my cast are schedule to be removed.

Wish you tons of lucks on your surgery <3 Don’t be scare ;)

What can i do for ankle pain?

I tried ice, and it just doesn’t seem to work for me. I have a brace and that helps a little, but it still really hurts in the evening. I have had x-rays and an MRI, and I might have a stress fracture. But we don’t know yet. I’ve tried Advil, but it doesn’t really work. Are there any remedies I can use?

You could try acupuncture or see a pain rehab physician.

Good luck.

What can I wear with my black flat ankle boots?

I have short, black, flat ankle boots and dont know what to wear?!?! any ideas? thanks in advance xx

The best thing to put with boots are skinny jeans. Since your boots are black, I’d go for a darker wash of skinny jeans. No colorful ones; they’re super tacky and go with nothing.

You could also pair it with a belt. Leather belts are gorgeous with anything, as well as plain black belts. Don’t go overboard with the belt.

If you don’t want to a wear a belt, then try a vest. This can be in any color you’d like, but it must look nice with a dark wash skinny jean. Therefore, the good colors for a vest would be black, white, red, brown, dark green, etc.

By no means should you wear a belt AND a vest. That is unacceptable.

As for a shirt, plain or muted pattern will do. The best route with any of the afore mentioned colors would be white, brown, green, black.

When looking at jewelry, you should always think about length. With a vest, short necklaces bring attention to all the wrong places. So I would wear a long gold chain necklace with any of those combinations. Gold will work beautifully. You could also a charm bracelet, as they add a personal touch.

If you are going to use a purse, anything will work as long as it’s fall. Leather bags with fringe are fantastic right now. Try that.

Hope I helped.

How long does it take for a sprained ankle to bruise or swell?

I think my sister sprained her ankle at a basketball game. It is really painful. She could walk a little at first. We got her to the car, but she had to lean on us and it hurt her al ot. It’s gotten worse since then and she can’t walk at all now. However it hasn’t bruised or swelled and it has been a few hours. How long does it usually take to bruise or swell and what is the best way to treat it?

Sometimes immediately, sometimes the day after. For me it doesent hurt at first, but the next day the swelling starts and starts hurting. For example, I broke my foot last winter skateboarding, and it hurt almost the second it happened, then just kindof faded. i knew something was wrong but didnt want to accept the truth. Oh well, Overall just give her 1 or 2 anti-imflammitories (motrin(ibuprofen) 200mg tablets) you can get these any drug store. Wrap her ankle and if you have the money take her to the hospital to get it examined by a professional.
